Everyone likes a bit of live music and jazz, don’t they?

Back in January 2007 that’s what founder Dom Servini from Wah Wah 45s and Soundway Records’ Hugo Mendez thought when they got together with Jake Telford (OK_Ma) and Graham Silbiger (Show and Prove) to throw a regular live jazz jam at one of London’s most musical hotspots, Proud Galleries in Camden. Each Monday night, the talented house band assembled on stage with a regular stream of local musicians and vocalists passing through, to provide an evening’s worth of quality music and good vibes, with Dom, Hugo and special guest DJs on hand to showcase their jazz collections on the decks. On those hallowed evenings, a wide range of talent made it onto the stage including guest spots from Matthew Halsall, Nostalgia 77, Scrimshire, US jazz combo Fertile Ground and even celebrated Romanian jazz vocalist Aura Urziceanu.

Fast forward three years and after a change in personnel, a change in venue location and a change of day, you can still find the very same band, The Favourite Things Quartet, holding court at Proud Camden in the Horse Hospital, Stables Market each and every Sunday from around 2.30 – 10.30pm.

The first of three live band performances by the Quartet and their weekly guests starts at 3.30pm Sunday afternoon and in between (and before), you can hear Nik Weston (Mukatsuku Records) and some of London’s established and up and coming jazz DJs playing the finest in jazz, Latin, fusion, soul and funk.
